Power Station Series
"Materials Science"

The aim of this course is to outline some of the basic materials used, and the considerations needed, to make the right choice of material for power station operations.

By the end of this course the student will be able to:

  • Describe the three main forms of Interatomic bonding.

  • Describe two types of structural defect commonly found within a crystalline structure.

  • Describe three important tests which can be applied to constructional metals, and how they relate to the mechanical properties of the metals.
