"ICRP 60 & NRPB Advice"
Aims :
- To provide an overview of the '1990 Recommendations of ICRP'.
- To outline the basic dosimetric quantities used.
- To outline the NRPB Advice on ICRP 60.
Objectives :
By the end of this course the student will be able to:
- State the reasons why ICRP has issued new Recommendations.
- Given the table of Nominal Probability Coefficients for Stochastic Effects comment on the way the figures were derived.
- Outline the following basic dosimetric quantities:
(a) equivalent dose
(b) effective dose
(c) committed equivalent dose and committed effective dose
(d) collective equivalent dose and collective effective dose.
- Outline how and when the various quantities should be used.
- State the ICRP 60 Recommendations for:
(a) dose limits
(b) occupational exposure of women..
- State the relationship between ICRP 60 and the Health and Safety Commission's Approved Code of Practice Part 4.
- Summarise the NRPB's recommendations for:
(a) occupationally exposed individuals
(b) members of the public.
